about us

The Association

The Association has annual elections for Officers and a Committee to manage the site on behalf of Birmingham City Council. Basic membership of the Association is automatic for all plot-holders. All plot-holders are welcome to participate and vote at the Annual General Meeting. Full or Associate membership costs two pounds per year, which allows access to the site shop, also known as a Trading Shed.

The Shed

Like many allotment sites we also operate a Trading Shed where full members can buy fertilisers and sundries at well below retail prices. Associate membership is also open to non plot-holders and allows them to buy at the Trading Shed. The Shed will be open 11-12 noon on most Sundays during the summer months.

The Allotment Site

Court Oak Road Allotments has about 93 plots, many of them small at a manageable size of about 100 sq. yards. We also have an area with accessible raised beds.

It is a beautiful, secluded site bordered by trees and away from the roads. An oasis of calm and a haven for wildlife – including our very own family of badgers. Have a look at what they are up to here: video 1 and video 2

Apart from The Shed (see above) the site has several communal areas such as The President’s Garden with an attached lawn area and seating, a community orchard with lots of apple and pear varieties and, our latest addition, a communal polytunnel.
